HEADACHE AND NECK PAIN?

Headache And Neck Pain – It’s Not Just In Your Head

Headache pain is by far the number one health complaint in the United States. Quite literally millions of people suffer daily from headaches of one sort or another. But did you know that headache pain is actually your body’s way of alerting you to an underlying condition? Much as your vehicle flashes a “Service Engine Now” warning light when something is awry with the motor, headache pain also signals a problem that needs and deserves your attention.

Unfortunately, we are so conditioned to simply reach for the bottle of Tylenol® or Advil® that we seldom stop to consider the root cause of our headache pain. As long as the pain goes away, little regard is given to the pain’s actual root cause or the potential side effects of pain medications. However, it is important to understand that headache pain medication only masks the symptoms – it does not resolve the origin of the pain.

But there is good news on the horizon. Whether you suffer from chronic tension headaches, migraine headaches, sinus headaches or cluster headaches, you can enjoy powerfully effective natural headache relief without the use of potentially harmful pain relief medications.

Tracing Headache Pain To Spinal Misalignment

Many times, the root cause of blindingly painful headaches is actually found in the neck. When the bones in your neck, also called your cervical spine, are misaligned, the result is often chronic headache and neck pain along with limited mobility. This misalignment is known as vertebral subluxation.

Research has revealed that approximately 40% of all headaches actually begin in the cervical spine.(1) Another study found a direct link between chronic headache pain and abnormal neck mobility. The cervical spine (remember, this is comprised of the bones in your neck) typically has a gentle “C-shape” curve, but a large majority of chronic headache sufferers have been found to suffer a significant reduction, absence or reversal of their normal neck curve.(2) Spinal misalignment in this area causes stress on the muscles and nerves that run through the spinal cord up to the neck and head, causing a chain reaction that disrupts muscle function and impedes neck mobility, resulting in headache and neck pain. It is also suspected that cervical spinal misalignment can interrupt nerve flow, again initiating headache pain.

Natural Headache Relief Through Chiropractic

Manipulative therapy has, for many years, enjoyed an impressive success rate in alleviating headache and neck pain by identifying and addressing the root cause of such pain. As a matter of fact, it has been found that manipulative chiropractic treatment is as effective as prescription medication for tension-type headaches and migraines, and is more effective than massage.(3)

Through a series of gentle adjustments of the neck and head, professional chiropractic manipulative therapy can provide fast, long-lasting, natural headache relief.(4) Additionally, chronic sinus headache pain often caused by a misalignment of the jaw can be relieved by chiropractic manipulative therapy.

So before your next headache strikes, consider your other more natural options. Why reach for an over-the-counter headache pain relief medication that merely masks your symptoms when headache relief through chiropractic can safely and effectively address the root cause? You just may find that this unique approach to natural headache relief not only eliminates your symptoms, but even prevents headache and neck pain altogether.
