DON’T LET LOW BACK PAIN CONTROL YOUR LIFE

A Personal Letter from Drs. Brenda and Erik Slovin...

Is Low Back Pain Limiting Your Lifestyle?

Whether you call it low back pain, lumbar pain or simply a backache, chronic low back pain is a major health issue for adults.

As a matter of fact, chronic low back pain is the primary reason that many people curb their favorite physical activities. This painful problem is incredibly widespread, with over 85% of adults suffering low back pain at some point in their lives.

Low back pain, or LBP, can begin suddenly as the result of injury or trauma, or it can occur due to a misalignment of spinal vertebrae.

This misalignment, called vertebral subluxation, typically causes irritation in the surrounding muscles and nerves, causing low back pain that can range from moderate to severe.

Regardless of the cause of onset, when low back pain persists more than three to six months, it is considered a chronic condition.

Chiropractic Gives New Hope For LBP Relief

Recent studies confirm what professional chiropractors have known for years - that chiropractic care is the most effective approach to achieve positive, long-term low back pain and disability outcomes.(1)

Why does chiropractic enjoy so much more success in low back pain relief than traditional medical therapies?

Unlike other methods of treatment, chiropractic addresses and corrects the root cause of low back pain rather than treating the symptoms or simply masking them.

Surprisingly, chiropractic patients are five times more likely to experience relief from low back pain than patients receiving other more traditional medical care.(2)

Considering Other Low Back Pain Treatments?

Outpatient hospital treatment may sometimes be considered when a patient suffers chronic low back pain. However, a study published in the prestigious British Medical Journal reports that those patients suffering low back pain who are treated by chiropractic derive more benefit and long-term satisfaction than those treated by hospitals.(3)

Prescription medications such as muscle relaxants and pain killers are another traditional medical treatment for low back pain.

However, the potential for disastrous side effects ranging from ulcers and addiction to even death should cause any LBP sufferer to hesitate before choosing this path of treatment.

Conversely, chiropractic is completely natural and is considerably more effective in relieving low back pain than muscle relaxants, pain medication and even anti-inflammatory medications.(4)

What about chiropractic versus heat therapy? Interestingly, heat therapy alone is considerably less effective in providing back pain relief than a combination of both chiropractic and heat therapy.

Research shows that patients receiving this combination of chiropractic care accompanied by heat therapy tend to experience markedly greater and more rapid pain relief, as well as a greater range of motion, than those who employ only heat therapy as a choice of treatment.(5)

Your Chiropractor And You: A Winning Team In The Battle Against LBP

An integral part of the chiropractic approach to low back pain relief is the unique relationship formed between doctor and patient.

With treatment plans tailored to suit the individual needs of each patient, chiropractors encourage and motivate their patients to become proactive in the recovery process.

This empowerment has been proven to be an important factor in regaining a healthy, active lifestyle free from the restricting chains of low back pain.

When LBP threatens to sideline the activities you enjoy, don’t just lay down and take it. Instead, take control of your life and your low back pain with professional chiropractic care.
